Working from Home Tips and Best Practices Jan 25, 2021
With the new year comes new goals and new opportunities to shake up your routine. Last year, the way we live and work completely shifted, and as we head into 2021, the work-from-home trend is here to stay. Finding the right work/life balance can be tricky, but here are a few of the best tips and tricks to help you find that sweet spot.
Create space
If space is at a premium, try packing up your laptop and work materials in the evening to avoid work distractions during your downtime.
Practice mindfulness
As a mental exercise, mindfulness is all about keeping yourself entirely focused on the task at hand. This prevents your thoughts from snowballing, helping you stay grounded and focused despite external stresses. This technique may sound simple, but it can help you increase productivity and keep work from boiling over into your personal life.
Boost your creativity
A personal creative project can help you destress and stay occupied on your off-hours, increasing your creativity at work at the same time! Try keeping a visual journal, crafting, or taking on a home beautification project. Need more ideas? Check out these creative DIY projects!
Upgrade your tech
It’s a new year, so now is a great time to swap your computer or other work-from-home technology for newer, better models. Eliminating the headache of a slow computer can remove serious stress from your life! While you’re at it, see about upgrading that WIFI too.
Meal prep
Even though you don’t have to take lunch to the office anymore, prepping your lunches at the beginning of each week is still a great idea. Use the extra time during your lunch hour to take a quick walk, do a load of laundry, or read a book. Whatever you do, try not to eat at your at-home desk!
Take some “me time.”
Even if travel isn’t an option right now, it’s still important to use that vacation time. Have an at-home spa day, sleep in, or spend time on a personal project while taking a well-deserved day or two off of work.
