A quick weekend getaway is one of the best ways to reset and enjoy a retreat from everyday life. As the end of the year draws near and we transition into winter, this is a great time to squeeze in a final vacation before 2022!

Stowe, Vermont

As far as winter weekend getaways go, Stowe is a must-see. This picturesque town is located near Mount Mansfield and the Worcester Range and is famous for its skiing and other winter activities, such as snowmobiling, ice skating, and winter zip-lining. Stowe has several well-known breweries and restaurants, novelty coffee shops, and relaxing spas to enjoy for those who prefer indoor activities.

Portsmouth, New Hampshire

If you’re looking for a more low-key getaway, consider Portsmouth; this seaside city is one of the oldest in the country. Start by taking a self-guided tour downtown and soak in the historic sites. Visitors can also go ice skating at Strawbery Banke Museum or learn more about the local aquatic life at the Seacoast Science Center. When you’re ready, grab a bite at one of the many local restaurants to satisfy any craving, from fresh seafood to farm-to-table meals.

Rangeley, Maine

Rangeley is a true winter wonderland filled with frozen lakes and spruces and pines top-heavy with snow. There’s no shortage of outdoorsy winter activities, including snowshoeing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling. Rangeley’s Saddleback mountain is an excellent option for skiers, and the famed Sugarloaf mountain is only 26 miles north.

Must see: Rangeley Scenic Byway is one of the best ways to soak in all the beautiful views this town has to offer!

Norwalk, Connecticut

Sometimes a romantic getaway is exactly what you need, and Norwalk is the perfect setting to reconnect with your partner. There’s no better place to go for a winter weekend with several beautiful inns to stay in and museums and art galleries to explore.
