Best Rooftop Pools and Bars Jul 27, 2021

As we head into late July, early August, in Boston – it’s time to head outside and explore the notable rooftop pools and bars open to the public. Grab a bite to eat, cool down, and refresh at these popular destinations.

The Colonnade Hotel’s RTP

Located on the 12th floor of the Colonnade Hotel in the Back Bay, RTP is one of Boston’s most popular rooftop pools and bars. This pool is surrounded by beach chairs, cabanas, and daybeds with stunning views of the city. If you choose to grab something to eat or drink, RTP offers everything from sliders and pizza to wraps and salads, with an expansive selection of drinks. From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday there is a $45 charge for the public. From 5 p.m. to close the rooftop is 21+ only, and is a great place to head after work with friends or coworkers.

Best for: Poolside drinks and impressive views.

Must-try meal: Luc!e Burger. American cheese, B&B pickles, lettuce, secret sauce – perfect for a poolside lunch or dinner.

Go-to cocktail: Spicy Strawberry Margarita. Ghost tequila, strawberries, lime.

Rooftop @ Revere

The Revere Hotel Boston offers a 16,000-square-foot roof deck and enclosed swimming pool open to the public on a first come, first served basis. This expansive rooftop overlooks the Back Bay, where you can lounge on a couch or reserve a cabana and enjoy fresh New England inspired meals and seasonal cocktails and drafts. During peak season, day passes are $30, however, after 5 p.m. there’s no charge for guests.

Best for: Rooftop views of the Back Bay and seasonal cocktails.

Must-try meal: Lobster roll. Traditional New England lobster roll served with Cape Cod chips.

Go-to cocktail: Devil’s Mule. Cazadores blanco tequila, blackberry, pomegranate, lime, ginger beer, bitters.

Lookout Rooftop and Bar

Sitting atop the Envoy Hotel, this eighth floor rooftop bar and restaurant delivers some of the Seaport’s best food, drinks, and skyline views. Renowned for its Seaport Sangria and fire pit tables, this popular spot, close to home, is perfect both in the summer and fall, with mounted heaters for cooler nights. Make a reservation prior to dining in and enjoy the panoramic views at Lookout.

Best for: Skyline views and fire pit tables.

Must-try meal: Ahi Tuna Tartare. Scallions, avocado, gochujang, popped amaranth, puffed rice cracker.

Go-to cocktail: Seaport Sangria. Bacardi rum, wine, seasonal flavors, and fruit.

Six \ West

Atop of the Cambria Hotel you will find Six West restaurant and bar, featuring spanning city views, Italian-inspired dishes, and a menu full of unique cocktails. Located in South Boston, this is a great location for breakfast, brunch, or dinner. Take your pick of indoor or outdoor seating or reserve a greenhouse!

Best for: Breakfast, brunch, or dinner. Indoor or outdoor.

Must-try meal: Truffle scramble bowl. Two eggs, truffled mushrooms, hollandaise, chives, hash browns, boursin toast.

Go-to cocktail: Bloody meets bagel. Ketel one, everything bagel seasoning, house bloody mix. Perfectly paired with brunch.

Deck12 at Yotel Boston

With sweeping views of the Seaport District and waterfront, this rooftop provides plentiful options for dining, drinking, or brunching. Located in the heart of the Seaport, take your pick of sandwiches, shareable plates, tacos or comfort meals perfect for any occasion. This location is open year round and has options for both cooler and warmer weather.

Best for: Comfort meals with sweeping views of the Seaport.

Must-try meal: Crispy Chicken Chilaquiles. Crispy cutlets, flautas, salsa verde cotija, cheese, avocado crema, pupusa slaw.

Go-to cocktail: It Wasn’t Me. Reyka vodka, peach elderflower.

Trillium Brewing Company – Fort Point

This brewery’s spacious outdoor location is cherished by locals, providing a rotating selection of drafts. They also offer a farm-to-table-menu, beer to go, and have indoor, outdoor, and roof deck seating available. Monday and Tuesday, this location is open for to-go only, however, Wednesday through Sunday they are open for seated dining. While the rooftop is first come, first served only, indoor and outdoor seating allows reservations up to 14 days in advance.

Best for: Rooftop dining paired with a farm to table menu and draft selection.

Must-try meal: Summer Kale Salad. Kale, grilled nectarine, heirloom tomatoes, farm radish & turnip, spiced sunflower seed, lemon vinaigrette, crema grilled or crispy chicken

Go-to cocktail: Try any of their rotating beer selections!
